Recipe Ingrediants
Thoor Dhal - 1-cup
Onion - 1 big
Tomato - 1 small
Tamarind - small Lemon size
Asafoetida - a pinch
Green chillies - 2 to 3 ( Depending on spice)
Sambhar powder - 2 tsp
Turmeric powder - a pinch
salt to taste
Sliced radish - 1/2 cup
Grated Coconut - 6 tbls
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Seasoning
Oil
Mustard Seeds -1/4 tsp
Urad dhal - 1/4 tsp
Fenu greek - 6 to 7 seeds
Curry leaves
Recipe Procedure:
Soak the tamarind in water(hot water will be faster & easier) and extract the juice from it Chop the onion,tomato & green chillies and keep them aside Grind the grated coconut & cumin seeds into a fine paste and set it aside Pressure cook Thoor dhal & radish till the radish becomes well cooked. Keep them aside Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seed,fenu greek seed & urad dhal. Allow them to splutter. add curry leaves and fry for 5 seconds Now add the onion,tomato & green chillies and fry till they become tender Pour the tamarind extract to this and add turmeric powder , asafoetida & sambhar powder and leave it to boil for 3 min Now add the mashed Thoor dhal& cooked radish. Then add the ground paste and again leave it to boil for 5 - 10 min Garnish with some coriander leaves
